Our successful Ashton in Makerfield branch is currently looking for a Mill Operative.

In this role you will work as part of our external Mill based team, providing an integral part of the operation on a daily basis.

Duties are varied which include:

  • Operate and maintain a variety of woodworking machines including saws, moulders, planers, and CNC routers.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and machine timber components with precision and attention to detail.
  • Monitor equipment for wear and perform basic maintenance and troub­les­ho­oting.
  • Work in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist with loading/­unloading materials and organizing the Mill.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a machinist in a woodworking or timber mill environment.
  • Strong knowledge of wood types, machining techniques, and tool use.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Forklift license or CNC experience (desirable but not essential).
